Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what information GreenRif (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit greenrif.com (the “site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and the content of your message. We use it only to read and respond to your message and keep it for as long as needed to do so, and no longer than 24 months.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers automatically record technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time. We use these server logs to keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix problems, and we delete them after about 30 days.
If advertising or analytics are active on the site (see below), our partners Google LLC and its affiliates also collect information through cookies and similar technologies, such as device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages you view.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use the following categories:
- Strictly necessary. We store your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask again on every page. Site staff who sign in to our admin area receive a session cookie; ordinary visitors never do.
- Analytics. If enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site, for example which guides are read most. We use this information in aggregate only.
- Advertising. If enabled, Google AdSense and its partners use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and, where permitted, show ads based on your interests.
Where the law requires consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you agree via our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer (shown whenever advertising or analytics are active) or by clearing cookies and site data in your browser.
Advertising: Google AdSense and the DoubleClick cookie
We may use Google AdSense to display advertising on the site. In that case:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
- If you opt out of personalized ads or decline advertising cookies, you may still see ads, but they will be non-personalized (based on the page content, for example) rather than on your interests.
For details on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google’s advertising policies.
Analytics: Google Analytics
If enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure site traffic. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page, device and browser type and approximate location. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data in your browser with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain and secure the site and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To understand which content is useful so we can improve it.
- To show advertising that funds the site, in line with your choices.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked us to.
How we share information
We share information only with:
- Service providers who host the site and deliver our email, under obligations to protect it.
- Google, as described above, when advertising or analytics are active.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Your US state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another state with a comprehensive privacy law), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. Personalized advertising through cookies may count as “sharing” under some state laws. You can opt out by choosing “Necessary only” in our cookie settings, by enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we treat as a request to opt out of personalized advertising, or by using the Google opt-out links above. To make any other request, email [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We process personal data on the following legal bases: your consent (analytics and advertising cookies), our legitimate interests (running and securing the site, responding to messages) and legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Your data may be processed in the United States; where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses used by our providers.
Children’s privacy
The site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data security and retention
We use HTTPS encryption, access controls and up-to-date software to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and keep it only as long as described in this policy.
Links to other websites
Our guides link to other websites, such as university extension services. Their privacy practices are their own; please review their policies.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
